Elektroautos bald billiger als Benziner?

In naher Zukunft sollen Elektroautos endlich billiger werden als Benziner − ein entscheidender wirtschaftlicher Wendepunkt, von dem Experten sagen, dass er wahrscheinlich zu einer viel größeren Akzeptanz von sauberen Verkehrsmitteln führen wird.

Die jüngsten Preisrückgänge – und der damit verbundene Anstieg der Autoverkäufe – sind hauptsächlich auf die Verbesserung der Batterietechnologie zurückzuführen, berichtet The Guardian. Sobald Elektrofahrzeuge (EVs) die Schwelle überschreiten, ab der sie billiger sind als Spritfresser, können wir hoffentlich erwarten, dass unsere Verkehrsinfrastruktur schnell viel umweltfreundlicher wird als jetzt.

Staatliche Subventionen

In einigen Ländern, darunter Norwegen, Deutschland und Frankreich, sind Elektrofahrzeuge tatsächlich bereits billiger als Benziner. Dies ist jedoch den erheblichen staatlichen Subventionen zu verdanken, die laut The Guardian die Einführung von Elektrofahrzeugen fördern sollen. Das ist alles schön und gut, aber der eigentliche Wendepunkt – dem sich die Elektroauto-Industrie jetzt nähert – ist der Punkt, an dem Elektroautos ohne staatliche Unterstützung billiger sind.

Stetige Fortschritte & langfristig geringere Kosten

In gewisser Weise haben Elektroautos bereits einen Vorsprung gegenüber herkömmlichen, benzinbetriebenen Autos. Im Oktober stellte Consumer Reports fest, dass sowohl Elektroautos als auch Hybridautos im Laufe der Zeit etwa halb so viel kosten, da sie seltener ausfallen als Autos mit Verbrennungsmotoren.

Da die Batterien selbst immer billiger werden, könnte der Elektroantrieb bald zu einer alltäglichen oder offensichtlichen finanziellen Entscheidung werden, dann nämlich, wenn benzinbetriebene Autos zu historischen Relikten oder Sammlerstücken aus der Vergangenheit degradiert werden.
