Die österreichische Umweltschutzorganisation GLOBAL 2000 zeichnete die Gemeinde Tattendorf/Niederösterreich als erste Nationalpark Garten Gemeinde aus.
Mit sehr innovativen Projekten engagiert sich die Gemeinde Tattendorf seit Jahrzehnten für den Erhalt der Biodiversität, etwa dass die öffentlichen Flächen weniger oft gemäht werden, es gibt einen 24 Stunden Biosupermarkt, für jede Jung-TattendorferIn wird ein Baum gepflanzt – und vieles mehr.
Nationalpark Garten bietet wertvolle Lebensräume
Beim Nationalpark Garten soll mit der Hilfe der österreichischen GartlerInnen und Gemeinden das größte Netzwerk an kleinen Naturschutzgebieten entstehen, mit dem Ziel, möglichst viele wertvolle Lebensräume für Bienen, Schmetterlinge und Co. zu schaffen.
Hauptursache für den Rückgang der Vielfalt ist, dass die geeigneten Lebensräume für viele Tier- und Pflanzenarten immer seltener werden. Deshalb werden naturnahe Gemeindegärten als Rückzugsorte für die Natur immer wichtiger.
„Als Laie denkt man bei Nationalpark an die Hohen Tauern, an den Neusiedlersee oder an die Donau-Auen. Der Name ‚Nationalpark Garten‘ alleine schon, macht bewusst, dass Natur- und Umweltschutz nicht im Schutzgebiet enden, sondern im Garten anfangen.
Naturdenkmal, Biosupermarkt und Geburtstags-Au
Es sind Dinge wie das Naturdenkmal, eines der artenreichsten Schutzgebiete Niederösterreichs, der regionale 24-Stunden-Biosupermarkt oder die Geburtstags-Au, wo jedes Tattendorfer Neugeborene einen eigenen Baum bekommt. Für jedes zur Welt kommende Baby wird ein Baum gepflanzt, das ist nicht nur ein schönes Symbol, es bindet auch viel CO2. All das und noch mehr macht Tattendorf einzigartig. Unter der Marke „Mei Erd“ wurde ein regionales Humusprojekt wesentlich mitentwickelt, worauf die Gemeinde stolz ist. Bisher ungenutzte biogene Abfälle werden somit wieder aufgewertet und wieder verwendet.
Der eigentliche Wert von Biodiversität bleibt oftmals im Verborgenen“, so Univ.-Prof. Dr. Otto Moog, selbst Tattendorfer. „Wir brauchen die Biodiversität, da die Tiere, Pflanzen und Pilze für uns die Garantie sind, dass die Natur die Ökosystemdienstleistungen für uns Menschen bereit hält.“
Kein Einsatz von Glyphsat
Glyphosat wird in Tattendorf jedenfalls seit 2 Jahren in der Gemeinde nicht mehr eingesetzt, was nicht nur den Bienen und Schmetterlingen gefällt.
Das Schöne ist, dass jeder Tattendorfer zu Hause im eigenen Garten mitmachen kann, denn auch die privaten Gärten werden in Zeiten wie diesen immer wichtigere Rückzugsflächen der Biodiversität.
