„City Oases“ – mit dieser App entkommen Sie der Sommerhitze

Mit „City Oases“ kann man jetzt die kühlen Seiten Wiens entdecken

Hitzewellen machen vor allem im Stadtgebiet der Bevölkerung zu schaffen. GLOBAL 2000 hat deshalb gemeinsam mit dem International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) und dem Umweltbundesamt die App „City Oases“ entwickelt. Hitzegeplagte können sich damit gezielt kühle Orte in Wien anzeigen lassen und ihre eigenen Lieblingsplätze eintragen.

„City Oases“ hilft beim Auffinden kühler Orte

Der Klimawandel wird jedes Jahr deutlicher spürbar. Mehr Grün macht eine Stadt lebenswerter und reduziert die Hitze. Mit dem Ausbau von Grünflächen, offenen Wasserflächen und begrünten Gebäuden setzt die Stadt Wien bereits konkrete Maßnahmen gegen die Bildung von sogenannten städtischen Hitzeinseln.

Die neue App „City Oases“ verweist auf Orte in Wien, die trotz Sommerhitze kühl sind.

In der App „City Oases“ werden nun hitzereduzierte Plätze durch den Zugriff auf eine Hitzekarte Wiens für alle NutzerInnen sichtbar. Interaktiv können auch eigene, kühle Oasen im Stadt-Dschungel eingetragen werden, die wiederum der Weiterentwicklung der städtischen Kilmaadaption dienen. „Durch die in der App erzeugten Daten kann Jeder und Jede ganz einfach einen Beitrag zur nachhaltigen Stadtplanung leisten“, ist Gebhard Banko vom Umweltbundesamt, überzeugt.

Anstieg an Hitzetagen besonders in der Stadt problematisch

Temperaturen deutlich über 30°C sind in Österreich längst keine Seltenheit mehr. Alleine im Juni dieses Jahres wurden in Wien 12 solcher Hitzetage gemessen – deutlich mehr als die acht Tage, die es in den 80er Jahren über den gesamten Sommer verteilt, gab. Die hohen Temperaturen können für Kinder und ältere Menschen durchaus gefährlich werden. Vor allem wenn auch Nachts keine Abkühlung eintritt, kommt es vermehrt zu Kreislaufproblemen bis hin zu Todesfällen.

In Österreich verzeichnete man in den letzten vier Jahren sogar mehr Hitze- als Verkehrstote. Der Anstieg an Hitzetagen macht sich dabei besonders in Großstädten wie Wien bemerkbar. Asphalt und Beton tragen zur Entstehung von Urban Heat Islands bei, wo die Temperaturen bis zu 12°C höher sein können als im Umland.

Die kostenfreie, mehrsprachige App bietet der Bevölkerung die Möglichkeit, die vielfältigen Nutzungsmöglichkeiten von Freiräumen in Wien zu entdecken. Sie liefert Informationen über Aktivitäten, die in der Stadt ausgeübt werden können. Die angezeigten Möglichkeiten reichen von Orten zur sportlichen Betätigung, über Plätze zum kreativen Ausleben, bis zu Erholungs-Oasen in der Natur.

„City Oases“ ist für sowohl für Android- als auch Apple-Geräte verfügbar.
